What is a Mastermind and Who is it For?

What is a Mastermind and Who is it for?

By now you’ve probably heard the term “Mastermind” and you may even know quite a few people who have joined one, but it may not be entirely clear what a Mastermind is and who it’s really for.

I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of three different Masterminds and was lucky enough to get in on one before they really caught fire in the creative industry. So today I’m breaking down exactly what a mastermind is, what you do in one, and who it’s really for!

What is a Mastermind?

A mastermind is a group of business owners who meet on a regular basis to share ideas & strategies, uplift & encourage one another, and provide accountability & a social environment to help each other grow.

A mastermind can consist of any number of people, of any type of business background, of any gender, and can meet at varying lengths of time (once a week to once a quarter!)

That’s the beauty of every Mastermind – it’s truly custom!

There are Masterminds for only women, for only a specific industry, masterminds with certain goals and topics they speak on, masterminds with a solid structure, masterminds where you can speak freely each time, masterminds with four people, and masterminds with 20 people.

Each founder typically creates it’s own set of rules and regulations, and that makes it really easy to find the perfect one just for you!

How My Masterminds Have been Structured

All three of the Masterminds I’ve been a part of have been specifically for women small business owners.

Some of us have been in different industries and some of us have been in the same industry, it’s just depended on the group, but every group I’ve been in has a diverse range of backgrounds so that we’re able to grow and learn with different perspectives.

Two of my Masterminds have met every other week, and one of them met once a month.

Two of my Masterminds was free talk each meeting about our current business projects, and one was heavily structured with topics for each month.

Two of my Masterminds consisted of four members (including myself) and one of them consisted of eight.

There’s truly no right or wrong way to structure a Mastermind, just simply a matter of preference!

Who is a Mastermind for?

Masterminds are perfect for any business owner looking for connection, accountability, and new ideas for growth in their business.

They can be so incredibly fulfilling, serving as the coworkers you’ve never had, but it does require dedication.

Dedication in showing up for every meeting, both physically and mentally, ensuring you’re contributing and focusing and pouring into these amazing members just as much as they’re pouring into you.

It does require abstract thinking as you look to solve problems, empathy & kindness as your new found friends lean on you in tough times, and unwavering support as you cheer each other on through the ups and downs of business.

If you’re looking for a deep connection with talented business owners who help you tackle business problems from a new perspective, then a Mastermind is definitely right up your alley!

Forming Your Own Mastermind

If you’re looking to form your own Mastermind, you’re going to want to make sure you figure out a few of the most crucial details before you invite your members. We don’t want it falling apart within the first month, so these details are key!

The Mastermind Checklist is the quick overview you need to make sure you’ve got everything set in place before you get started. It’s a literal checklist that you can print out and attach to a clipboard, getting things checked off as you figure out the details and count down the days to your first meeting.

Download the checklist by clicking the image above or simply click right here, and let’s start planning!

Joining an Existing Mastermind

If you’re looking to skip the hurdles of forming your own mastermind and want a little guidance along the way, the The Mastermind Seven is definitely for you!

The Mastermind Seven is an existing Mastermind, led by yours truly, over the course of 6 months. Together we will become a powerful team of seven and a sounding board for each other as we take action to propel our businesses forward.

Here we’ll work through specific topics (like branding, email marketing, and SEO), build out a custom action plan for you, bond together through an in-person retreat, and comb through every aspect of your business to ensure your hitting those massive goals.

If this sounds like just the thing you’re looking for (or even if you just want a few more details), head here to find out more!
